Your guide to Marbella

All about destination

All about Marbella

The preferred vacation spot for European visitors seeking sun, sand, and sea together with a dash of elegance and five-star grandeur is Spain’s Costa del Sol.

Marbella is the ideal beachside enclave to choose as your vacation headquarters because the area has lots to attract every style of traveller, from the busy to the more peaceful. Because this stunning region of Spain offers so many things to do, including its Old Quarter, neighbouring world-class museums, endless beaches, golf courses, and fine dining restaurants, you might want to carefully organise your itinerary to see everything it has to offer. If you can bring yourself to leave the boundaries of your opulent villa, that is.

Let Marbella serve as the setting for a trip you will never forget, whether it’s a private honeymoon for two, a family reunion, or a corporate retreat for 20.

Time to visit

When is the ideal time to book an Marbella vacation rental?

It’s not called the Costa del Sol for nothing: With 320 days of sunlight and an average yearly temperature of 64 degrees Fahrenheit (ca. 18 °C), you hardly ever need to bring anything heavier than a light sweater while travelling to Marbella.

Protected from the wind by the mountains nearby, Marbella is at its hottest and busiest during the summer, when temperatures reach a comfortable 81 degrees Fahrenheit (ca. 27 °C) in August. When the weather is still warm enough for swimming and there are fewer visitors, the fall is a fantastic time to stay in one of Marbella’s apartments.

The wettest months in Marbella are December and January, when the average high falls to 61 Fahrenheit (ca. 16 °C).

Top things to do

What are the top things to do while visiting Marbella?

Enjoy the outstanding cuisine

It is safe to assume that while on vacation in Marbella, you won’t go hungry. A wide variety of fresh, local produce is always available thanks to the year-round good weather and near proximity to the sea. Some of Spain’s most creative chefs, whose restaurants are scattered along Marbella’s shoreline and Old Quarter, are inspired by this fresh produce.

MC Beach, located inside the famous Marbella Club, is a must-visit if you want to spot celebrities while enjoying a fantastic meal. Sean Connery and Bridget Bardot are just a couple of the celebrities who have dined outside there. Villa Tiberio, a restaurant set inside 6,000 square feet (ca. 557 m²) of lush, tropical gardens, is another Jet Set favourite. It was established by chef Sandro Morelli, who mixes Spanish ingredients with Italian cuisine to create meals like Osso Bucco and fettuccine al salmone.

There are numerous restaurants in Marbella’s Old Town. For a dinner of traditional French fare, visit Casanis Bistrot, a beautiful restaurant near Orange Square in the Old Town. Here, you may sip a cold beverage on the sidewalk before choosing from the menu of daily specials, which include foie gras, confit of duck, and steak tartare. Pico Jimenez is a nearby restaurant with a focus on seafood on Plaza de los Naranjos. You can enjoy local specialities like monkfish, turbot, and sea bream while you’re there. Make a reservation at Skina, a Michelin-starred restaurant, whose 12-course tasting menus are the buzz of the town, if you want to commemorate a particular occasion. It is a little restaurant with a sizable wine list and is renowned for creatively utilizing seasonal, local produce.

Discover the golden coast

It is not surprising that there are many beaches along Spain’s “Golden Coast” for visitors to enjoy. It’s crucial to keep in mind that some beaches get very crowded during the summer because it’s a popular vacation spot for Europeans, but there are plenty of sandy beaches that everyone can visit. Playa de Alicante, located just outside Marbella, is one of the most popular. It’s an excellent area to enjoy the day because it’s crowded with eateries and pubs. The South Beach Club is the place to go if you want to dance the night away, and Los Sardinales is the spot to grab a bite to eat. Playa Nagueles is located east of Marbella and is close to all the five-star luxury resorts. You can rent a bike or a yacht to explore this lovely stretch of beach, which is the most secluded area of the coast.

Visit Puerto Cabopino beach and marina for a wonderful family day out and take a stroll along the beach front and harbour. The surrounding nature reserve and the views of the mountains, sea, and sand dunes are very breathtaking.

There is no better place to be for a day and night of pure glitz than Nikki Beach. Party lovers who want to be seen while also worshipping the sun go to this notorious hotspot. Rent a VIP daybed, listen to the music resonating over the waves, and sip a few cocktails. This is why vacations were created.

Activities and culture

There are numerous attractions and cultural hotspots close to your luxury villa to explore. Walking through the ruins of a 9th-century Moorish fortification in Marbella’s Old Quarter or taking a stroll through Alameda Park’s palm trees are both enjoyable ways to pass an hour or two. Spend a day in the Sierra de Las Nieves national park if you want to enjoy a little more time in nature. It is definitely worthwhile to visit the natural rock pool formations in El Canalon. If you want to hike, a 90-minute hike up the La Concha Mountain will reward you with breathtaking views over Marbella’s coastline.

Avenida del Mar, a street lined with Salvador Dalí sculptures, is located in the heart of Marbella. Additionally, art enthusiasts can think about taking a day trip to Malaga, which is close by, to visit Picasso’s childhood home, a branch of the Centre Pompidou, the Santiago Hermitage, and the CAC Museum of Modern Art, all of which are open year-round.

Wine connoisseurs will appreciate a visit to a vineyard close to Ronda, a historic hillside town where vines have been planted since the Roman era. Those who are truly enterprising will enjoy taking a day excursion to Morocco. The boat ride to Tangier just takes a few hours, and the tours of the spice and souk marketplaces turn it into a vacation highlight.
